The Linux server runs RHEL 7.3 (virtual machine, KDE). NoMachine aims to help users access any device from anywhere. The free version works very well over an SSH tunnel or VPN. Windows desktop accessed through WRD runs Windows 7. Its like VNC or remote desktop (except the graphics capabilities are greatly enhanced). Connecting/disconnecting a few times through WRD to the desktop often helps to make NoMachine to work much faster.Ĭould you please let me know if there is anything I could do to improve performance of NoMachine when it is used through WRD? NoMachine Player provides the connection interface with which users initiate the connection to the remote computer that they want to access, and it also allows you to: The Player UI is accessible either from the system's Programs/Applications menu, or via any connection shortcut that you have on your desktop. In both cases, I can feel slowdown of NoMachine if it is used through WRD. Clients for the NoMachine software are available for Linux. I use setup 2) both to work from home and to connect from one desktop at work to another (the two desktops are in close proximity). NoMachine is a remote desktop server with advanced features, such as screen recording. Users Download and Install a Free NX Client on their laptop or desktop computer and connect. I dont see any way to install NoMachine on Clear Linux. I have this working on several servers, including a Oracle always free ARM machine in the cloud running Ubuntu. By slow, I mean that: A) it could take seconds for the Linux server screen to refresh, B) responsiveness of the Windows desktop accessed through WRD is much higher than of the server accessed through NoMachine from the desktop. Chrome Remote Desktop used to be my favorite, but recent editions pretty well break Ubuntu, and its whats supported. In setup 1) NoMachine works very fast, in setup 2) it often works quite slow. 1) A Windows desktop connects to a Linux server using NoMachine.Ģ) A Windows desktop connects to another Windows desktop through Windows Remote Desktop ( WRD) and then from there connects to a Linux server using NoMachine.
